I was so looking forward to wrapping up my summer weddings with Kinsey & Tyler’s rooftop wedding. I was also very excited that it was going to be in downtown Roanoke, so I wouldn’t need to travel! Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love traveling for weddings, but sometimes it’s nice to have one so close to home!
I had been looking forward to this day ever since taking Kinsey & Tyler’s engagement photos on Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina last winter. It was one of the absolute coldest photo shoots I’ve ever had with super low temperatures and crazy wind chill! They were such good sports with the weather then that I knew they’d be in great spirits on their wedding day!
When the day finally came, it did call for and threaten rain most of the morning. Luckily, though, we evaded storms and were able to keep the ceremony on the rooftop of Center in the Square, with a beautiful view of the city and surrounding mountains. Just as we were all heading inside for the reception, the storms got closer and a rainbow appeared in the sky. After the reception dinner started inside, the rains came. Fortunately again, it was a quick downpour, and we were able to dance the night away outside. It was definitely the best timed rain I have every seen!
I loved so much about this wedding, from the wonderful couple to a killer team of vendors (see the list at the bottom - seriously amazing!) to the crazy but perfect weather, but here are a few of my other favorites:
Kinsey arranged all the flowers herself, and did an incredible job!
When the rainbow appeared, at least 5 guests came up and made sure we knew so we could get a photo (love that!)
The funfetti wedding cake, which is one of my favorite kinds!
All the flossing on the dance floor! I only included a photo or two here, but there was so much flossing all night!
