I had been so excited for Lauren & Matt’s wedding for the longest time. We had only been able to talk over the phone & through email before the wedding, so I couldn’t wait to meet this sweet couple and see how their wedding plans all came together!
From the moment we got out of the car, Paige (my second photographer) and I were so in love with the venue - the Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Virginia. Each room was more breathtaking than the last, and when we saw Lauren’s dress hanging so beautifully, we couldn’t wait to get to work! Lauren & Matt were both able to get ready at the venue with their respective wedding parties, and Matt even partook in a unique southern tradition - “Burying the Bourbon”. Essentially, a bottle of bourbon is buried upside down at the venue before the wedding, and the groom digs it up the morning of the wedding. It’s meant to ward off bad weather, and even if it fails you have a bottle of whiskey to drink - so it’s a win either way if you ask me! In the end, we did have a rainy day, but were able to move the ceremony inside. Fortunately, Lauren & Matt were up for a bit of fun during the reception and we were able to get some photos in the rain that evening. I’m always so grateful when couples are up for anything and it always makes for some really unique photos of the day!
Lauren & Matt had such a beautiful wedding surrounded by their friends and family. There was lots of toasting of the bride and groom at the reception, plenty of dancing and the night was capped off with sparklers and celebration. I’m so glad I was able to meet and work with these two, they were an absolutely blast to document on such a happy day!
